A & E …from a Queer Perspective

January 22, 2008 by simba82047

Ever hopefulSeveral friends who have been following my reviews for the last several years have requested that I find a way to resume my obsession. So, after months of watching plays, movies and reading GLBTQA literature while NOT sharing my twisted perspective, it seems the time has come to put it all in print for anyone to read and love or hate.

After years of training in ballet, modern and jazz dance, as well as acting and voice, I went into professional theatre for nearly 20 years as an actor, singer and dancer. New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Seattle claimed my life for most of that time. After retiring from the stage and moving to the smaller city of Spokane it seemed that all that training and experience left me frustrated and still desirous of some mental, emotional and spiritual connection to the performing arts once again.

So here it is. I offer my insights and personal point of view in all my critiques with the intent to help more of our GLBTQA community become involved with and enjoy the arts with as much relish as our brothers and sisters in larger communities.

Speaking of brothers and sisters, you all surely know that many of us are involved in those same arts. It can be highly entertaining to spot members of our “family” in the act of bringing us joy and sorrow, whilst raising questions that can help us in our personal and political growth.

Enjoy.
